About
Store Norske Bygg is a typeface inspired by the lettering found in photographs of Frimann Bye & Winsvold AS's offices. This company supplied mortar and construction materials in Oslo during the 1920s and 1930s. Bygg originated from the 'Skrift i Oslo' exhibition, a project that showcased original Oslo signage and highlighted the city's sign painting tradition. The project featured Bygg to illustrate how modern type design could help digitally restore Oslo's visual dialect. The typeface eventually evolved into a complete functional alphabet and is now available as a two-weight monospace font.
