About
Store Norske Skandia Narrow carries the same balanced contrast, measured tone, and geometric structure as Skandia in a tighter width. It was developed as part of the family rather than as a separate interpretation, with the aim of keeping the character of the original forms as present as possible as the proportions narrow.
This gives Skandia Narrow a denser text image and a firmer vertical rhythm, while remaining close to the voice of the wider family. It is well suited to editorial systems, signage, interfaces, and other settings where space is limited, but where the typeface still needs to feel open, stable, and recognisably Skandia.
Skandia began with the discovery of a long-lost Scandinavian neo-grotesque originally designed for the Norwegian National Railway. Read more about Skandia’s roots and design process here.
