About

Store Norske Skandia Mono is the monospaced companion to Skandia, carrying the same clear and measured voice into a more regular structure. In Skandia Mono, the fixed-width format sharpens the compactness already present in Skandia, giving the typeface a steadier line, a denser text image, and a more deliberate relation between letter and space.

Its balanced contrast and geometric construction remain close to the original family, while the monospaced setting brings interval, alignment, and repetition more clearly into view. In this way, Skandia Mono extends the range of the family without breaking its character, placing the same forms in a more regulated setting while keeping the same calm and orderly tone.

Skandia began with the discovery of a long-lost Scandinavian neo-grotesque originally designed for the Norwegian National Railway. Read more about Skandia’s roots and design process here.
